international premium rate service (ITU) (IPRS)

International Premium Rate Services (IPRS) are value-added services provided by switched networks that can be dialed in with certain service codes. There are national and international premium rate services (IPRS), the latter described in ITU Recommendation E.155.

IPRS is based on the Universal International Premium Rate Number (UIPRN) identifier, which identifies the country code (0)979, followed by a 1- digit identifier for the cost category and an eight-digit subscriber number.
