international federation of information processing (IFIP)

The International Federation of Information Processing (IFIP) is an international association for data processing, founded in 1961, based in Geneva. Primarily focused on scientific data processing. There are about 40 national member associations. Its members include the American Federation of Information Processing Societies (AFIPS) and the Russian Academy of Sciences. IFIP, like others, has technical committees and working groups. Among other things, IFIP designed the original MHS model.
