internal DisplayPort (iDP)

The internal DisplayPort (iDP) is a display interface between a video server and a digitalflat panel display.

The internal DisplayPort is an international standard of the VESA. It is incompatible to the standard and embedded DisplayPort, this concerns both the physical interface and the transmission protocol.

The nominal data rate is 3.24 Gbit/s per lane. With this data rate, digital TV in full HD with a video stream of 240 Hz and a color depth of 30 bits can be transmitted via eight lanes. The transmission capacity can only be realized via LVDS over 48 differential lines. Since LVDS can no longer be managed at high data rates for Full-HD and 4K, internal DisplayPort is to replace LVDS. iDP works with 8B/10B channel coding.
