intelligent power module (IGBT) (IPM)

Intelligent Power Modules(IPM) are intelligent supply components used primarily in the high- power sector. For example, in solar and wind energy, rail vehicles, elevators and industrial production facilities.

IPM modules involve the control of currents and voltages of several kilo-amperes (kA) and kilo-volts (kV). The power ratings of the modules are in the megawatt range. Components of the IPM modules are IGBTs, which are interference-resistant and temperature-independent, and perform the switching functions, the cooling and the concept for busbars in order to be able to transmit high currents with the lowest possible losses.
