instructions per cycle (CPU) (IPC)
Instructions Per Cycle(IPC) is, like Cycles Per Instruction( CPI), a characteristic value for the computing power ofcomputers.
The IPC value is formed from the ratio between the number of instructions for executing a program and the number of clock cycles required for this. It is the reciprocal of the CPI value.
For example, if 5,000 instructions are required for a program and the program is executed in 20,000 clock cycles, then the IPC value is 0.25 and the CPI value is 4. A high IPC value indicates that the reference program requires fewer clock cycles for execution.
