instruction decode unit (CPU) (IDU)

The Instruction Decode Unit(IDU) is a functional unit of a processor that converts the machine code into individual instructions that can be executed by the processor.

The Instruction Decode Unit (IDU) breaks down the instructions written in machine code into individual work steps that are used to activate the logical function units in the arithmetic logic unit( ALU).

The instruction decoder receives its instructions from the memory and turns them into simple logical and mathematical instructions such as greater than, less than, addition, jump to another instruction, etc. Several instruction decoders are connected in parallel to increase the working speed.
