The Information Interchange Model (IIM) was originally designed by the International Press Telecommunications Council (IPTC) for digital photo metadata. Later versions merged into IPTC Core, which is part of the XML-based Extensible Metadata Platform
(XMP) metadata format. IIM data can be embedded in the headers ofJPEG, Tagged Image File Format (TIFF) and Photoshop documents (*.psd). Today, we speak only of the IPTC metadata, which contains notes and comments about the photos.
