home theater personal computer (HTPC)

The increasing demands on home entertainment can only be met with powerful personalcomputers. Home Theater Personal Computers (HTPC) are such multimedia network components that support all media. They are also called media centers or media center PCs.

A HTPC is a media computer on which audio and music, television and video, as well as photos and other documents are stored, archived and managed. It is a receiver, recorder and player with one or more hard drives and a DVD or BD drive for Blu-Ray discs. High-definition video and multi- channel audio can be stored and played on the hard drives, just like on a personal video recorder( PVR).
