higher level interface (802.1) (HILI)

Higher Level Interface (HILI) is the upper sublayer ofLayer 2 in the LAN layer model. The IEEE working group under 802.1 is named after it. In addition to the revision of the existing standards IEEE 802.1d, which deals with MACbridging, 802. 1Q for VLANs and 802.1x for quality of service ( QoS), this working group deals with the following topics:

802.1ab: Station and MAC Discovery,

802.1ac: MAC Service Definition,

802.1ad: Provider Bridges( PB).
