high performance group (SPEC) (HPG)

The High Performance Group (HPG) is one of several groups within the Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation(SPEC).

The focus of the HPG is the development of benchmarks for high- performance computers, as well as for computers with multi-core processors, clusters, distributed memory computers, vector computers, and computers with Massive Parallel Processing( MPP).

The SPEC HPG was founded in 1994 by Fujitsu, Hewlett Packard, Intel, Silicon Graphics, Sun Microsystems, and Unisys. The HPG has developed several benchmarks, including SPEC OMP, SPEC HPC96, and SPEC HPC2002.
