high channel (HC)

Among hearing aids, there are dual channel devices that frequency separate the microphone signal and route it through a low frequency channel, the Low Channel

(LC), and a high frequency channel, the High Channel (HC).

The low frequency range for the low frequency channel extends from the lower cut-off frequency up to 1.5 kHz

. Since the amplification of both channels can be adjusted independently of each other, this frequency division allows a better acoustic adaptation to the hearing sensation of the user.

After signal separation, the signals of both channels are summed again. The gain of the entire frequency range can be varied via a further common gain setting.
