high capacity color barcode (HCCB)

The High Capacity Color Barcode (HCCB) is a color 2D code that has a much higher information density than black and white 2D codes. Since the color information is considered to be the third dimension, the HCCB code is considered to be a 3D code.

The HCCB code was developed by Microsoft and licensed by the International Standard Audiovisual Number (ISAN). Due to the use of different colors, the information density is about twice that of B/W codes and is 3,500 characters per square inch. The HCCB code represents small triangles of four or eight colors and also uses achromatic white and black when necessary.
