Hazard Based Safety Engineering (HBSE) is a safety concept to increase product safety. It identifies hazardous energy sources and provides solutions to protect equipment users against radiation
and other forms of energy. The HBSE principles form the basis of several standards such as the IEC 62443 series of standards or the IEC 62368-1 safety standard. The HBSE measures form safety-related precautions to protect equipment users from electric shocks, interference emissions, electromagnetic radiation, burns and other hazards. In addition, HBSE provides assessment rules that product manufacturers can demonstrate are in place and take into account known hazards.
