hardware as a service (HaaS)

Hardware as a Service (HaaS) stands for renting hardware: renting instead of buying. It is a leasing concept between the provider, the Managed Service Provider

(MSP), and the customer. Haas concepts include the provision

and installation of hardware, its maintenance and monitoring, replacement with newer models and disposal of the hardware in return for a fixed monthly leasing fee. In such a HaaS concept, the responsibilities of the two contracting parties are specified in detail ina Service Level Agreement

(SLA). An example of such a hardware offering is PC as a Service (PCaaS). A similar model is Device as a Service (DaaS). The HAAS or DaaS concept has the advantages for the user that no investment costs are incurred and he does not have to worry about the maintenance of the devices.
