ground station (Inmarsat)

Land earth stations(LES) are the stationary ground receiving stations in the Inmarsat system.

Land earth stations form the gateway between the satellites and the public telecommunications networks, the maritime rescue control centers and the direct links to the end user.

The LES are stationary, have a parabolic antenna with a diameter of over 10 meters in the case of global beam illumination, they contain the complete receiver electronics with modulators and demodulators and the gateway for the connection to the various fixed networks.
