ground control point (GCP)

The term Ground Control Point (GCP) is used with drones

to refer to a location-based point on the earth's surface. Ground control points are reference points

formapping and direct georeferencing. They are determined by exact position data. Corresponding GCP points are used by geoscientists for precise spatial information, for example to ensure high positional accuracy

in construction projects. The positional accuracy of ground control points is in the zintimeter range and even below. When using drones, ground control points can be dispensed with if UAV mapping is available.
