Grey-hats are hackers who work on the border of legality and by all means exceed it.

The distinction between white-hat hackers and grey-hat hackers is blurred, as both uncover security vulnerabilities but do not cause any damage to data and programs. The difference is that grey-hat hackers spread their idea of freedom of information and derive their own advantages from their activities, for example by pointing out security vulnerabilities to companies, but want to be rewarded for this or publish the vulnerabilities.
