global automotive telematics standard (GATS)

Global Automotive Telematics Standard (GATS) is a traffic telematics standard for a message format and transmission protocol, for the development of traffic telematics services and devices. GATS was developed by Mannesmann Autocom and Tegaron Telematics. It is an open industry standard for communication between telematics provider service centers and devices, such as in-vehicle navigation devices.
