# giant large scale integration (chip) (GLSI)

Giant Large Scale Integration (GLSI) is the successor technology to Extra Large Scale Integration( ELSI).

The integration density of chips

Chips in GLSI technology have 100 million (10^8) and more transistors on one chip. This integration density with a structure width of 45 nm has been manageable since the beginning of the millennium, and a structure width of 32 nm has been increasingly used since 2010. The next GLSI chips will have an integration density of 22 nm, which will later be replaced by 14 nm technology.
