geographic markup language (XML) (GML)
The Geographic Markup Language (GML) is a description language for geographic data.
The GML language was developed by the Open Geospatial Consortium( OGC) and standardized in version 3.2.1 as ISO standard 19136. The Geographic Markup Language (GML) allows geographic metadata to be exchanged between different online map services and geographic systems. It can be used to describe and store geographic data with their geometries and associated attributes.
