generic object exchange profile (Bluetooth) (GOEP)

There are several general Bluetooth profiles, one of which is the Generic Object Exchange Profile (GOEP). The GOEP profile supports the exchange of complex data objects. It defines the use of Object Exchange( OBEX) and the synchronization of data objects. The GOEP subordinate profiles are the File Transfer Profile( FTP), the Object Push Profile( OPP) and the Synchronization Profile( SP).

The GOEP profile is based on the Generic Access Profile( GAP) and on the Serial Port Profile( SPP). The GAP profile implements the functions of the lower two layers of the OSI reference model, RF Communication( RFCOMM) that of the transport layer and OBEX that of the session layer. The OBEX connection is required for the data exchange of the objects.
