generic connection admission control (ATM) (GCAC)

Generic Connection Admission Control (GCAC) is a PNNI algorithm in ATM networks that is used for constant bit rate( CBR) and variable bit rate( VBR) connections.

This method can be used to determine whether a connection has sufficient resources to support it. Each node can use Generic Connection Admission Control (GCAC) to guess the CAC behavior, Connection Admission Control ( CAC), of another node, provided that the other nodes are aware of the connection metric and quality of service of the existing connection constellation.
