Gamification can be seen as a playful competition with which a positive influence can be exerted on customer and purchasing behaviour, but also on administrative and managerial activities. Gamification aims to combine simple activities in a playful way, combined with a sense of achievement.
Gamification takes place according to predefined game rules with a clear game objective. It is structured and has a direct relation to the real world. Gamification uses playful elements in a non-game context, such as scoring systems, rankings or leaderboards. In addition, the achievement of certain ranks and the feedback after performed actions play motivating roles. These elements are intended to make websites or other applications more attractive so that users engage more intensively with the product, learn more about it and become more involved with it.
