full automatic white balance (FAW)

Automatic white balance is used to adjust video cameras and camcorders to the color temperatures of the lighting, which are completely different in artificial light and daylight.

There are different white balance methods: manual, semi-automatic and fully automatic white balance. In the fully automatic white balance, the Full Automatic White Balance (FAW), the brightest image detail is detected and the white balance is adjusted to it. The rest of the color space is adjusted to the white balance. If the lighting or daylight changes, the FAW process adjusts the white balance to the changed lighting conditions.
