frequency correction channel (mobile communications) (FCCH)

InGSM networks, the broadcast control channel( BCCH) is also used to transmit frequency and synchronization information between the radio base station( BTS) and the mobile station, among other things. Therefore, this function of the Broadcast Control Channel is also referred to as the Frequency Correction Channel (FCCH).

The Frequency Correction Channel is a logical radio channel in which a data burst is transmitted as a frequency correction signal of all zeros. This correction signal is used for frequency shifting.

Frequency shifts occur, for example, in radar technology due to the Doppler effect.
