framework class library (.NET) (FCL)

.NETFramework Class Library (FCL) is a unified class library managed by the Common Language Runtime ( CLR) for all programming languages covered by Common Language Specifications( CLS).

The Framework Class Library was initially referred to as the Base Class Library( BCL), and later simply as the Class Library, or class library. The elements of the Framework Class Library are the classes for the system namespace. They contain most of the elementary features of . NET, including the types for the values, objects, support, and garbage collection. The second and third level namespace supports configuration management, file and network IO functions, security, web services, and more.

The Java Foundation Classes( JFC) are the equivalent to the Framework Class Library (FCL) in .NET.
