frame switching (FS)

Frame switching (FS) is a method for implementing data communication systems in which the data packets to be transmitted have different lengths ( frame

). The data packets are transported in switching systems, in whose switching networks

the data packets are switched directly between input and output ports. A distinction is made between single-frame switching and multi-frame switching. Frame switching is used, among other things, for the transmission of HDLC data packets. Frame switching is one of three methods for LAN switching. The other two are configuration switching and cell switching.
