for your information (TCP/IP) (FYI)

In the Request For Comments( RFC), each TCP/ IP standard document is assigned a status that indicates whether the standard document is still being edited, it has already been elevated to standard, and so on.

The designation For Your Information (FYI) means "For your information " and is used for non-technical standards or descriptions of protocols. FYIs convey general information about topics related to TCP/IP or the Internet. In RFC documents, For Your Information represents an informal status.

For Your Information is also often used in e-mails, namely when the sender only wants to inform the mail recipient about a fact without expecting a reply.
