foiled shielded twisted pair (F/STP)

The F/STP cable, Foiled Shielded Twisted Pair (F/STP or FSTP), is an improved version of the STP cable. It has two different shields: The four pairs of wires have braided shielding and the entire cable is surrounded by foil shielding made of aluminum foil. The double shielding - foil for the entire cable and braiding for each individual wire pair - improves the cable characteristics.

The F/STP cable is also available without core shielding, in which case it is called F/ UTP.
