focus group on next generation networks (ITU) (FGNGN)

The Focus Group for Next Generation Networks (FGNGN) is a working group of the International Telecommunication Organization( ITU) that was established in 2004.

The FGNGN is tasked with examining the need for global standards for Next Generation Networks( NGN) in terms of requirements for future services, NGN architecture functionality and mobility, Quality of Service( QoS), signaling capabilities, and the future of packet-switched carrier networks.

The tasks of the FGNGN will continue under the auspices of the NGN Global Standardization Initiative (NGN- GSI).
