Flexible AC Transmission Systems
(FACTS) are power electronic components in power supply networks and three-phase networks that are used specifically to influence the power flows. FACTS control components work with power electronic components, especially with controllers, thyristor-controlled phase shifters, static compensators (Statcom) and static power factor correction (SVC). These components are used to influence certain electrical parameters for power transmission, stability and controllability of the supply networks. The control relates to possible line overloads and phase shifts due to reactances. The aim is to influence the power transmission in such a way that the transmission capacities are used optimally.
