feeling of contrast index (color) (FCI)

There are several characteristic values for the color representation and rendering of LED luminaires and LED lighting. For example, the Correlated Color Temperature( CCT), the Color Rendering Index(Ra), the Color Quality Scale( CQS) and the Feeling of Contrast Index (FCI).

The FCI value is used in lighting technology for store windows and retail stores and is aimed at subjective color perception. It is calculated from the ratio between the color temperature of a test lamp and a daylight lamp with a color temperature of 6,500 K, standard illuminant D65. The FCI value indicates the color contrast perceived by the viewer and whether the viewer perceives the color as unsaturated, natural, saturated or oversaturated.
