federal Internet exchange (FIX)

The transition between the public Internet and one of the U.S. states' own Internetworks is referred to as Federal Internet Exchange (FIX). These networks are, for example, those of NASA, the Department of Defense, etc. In the USA, there are two Federal Internet Exchanges, one on the East Coast, the other on the West Coast of the USA.
