fast fourier transformation (FFT)

The Fast Fourier Transformation (FFT) is a mathematical method of Fourier transformation as implemented in computers.

In the Fast Fourier Transform, time-related signals are transformed into the frequency domain. The Fast Fourier Transform is a faster variant of the discrete Fourier transform( DFT) and is used in multimedia technology to decompose audio signals into individual sine oscillations and these in turn into the corresponding spectral frequencies.

In the frequency domain, an analysis of the sound image is possible.
