fast Ethernet interface

The Fast Ethernet ArticleID="23402" ArticleURL="Ethernet- layer-model-Ethernet-layer-model" ArticleTitle="Ethernet-layer-model"> Ethernet layer model has the same sublayers in the link layer as the Ethernet layer model, namely the Logical Link Control( LLC) and the Medium Access Control( MAC).

The situation is different in the physical layer( PHY), which is divided into four parts. In general, the physical layer consists of the Physical Coding Sublayer( PCS), Physical Media Attachment( PMA), Physical Medium Dependent( PMD) and the Autonegotiation Sublayer. The Autonegotiation Protocol( ANP), which is based on the Medium Dependent Interface( MDI), is used to achieve optimum speed adaptation of Ethernet and Fast Ethernet components and thus the highest possible data rate. The individual sublayers have different characteristics in the various Fast Ethernet interfaces. This applies to all sub-layers, from the coding to the connector.

Fast Ethernet layer model

There are two interfaces, namely between the physical coding sublayer (PCS) and the medium access control (MAC) there is the medium independent interface( MII) and between the transmission medium and the autonegotiation sublayer there is the medium dependent interface (MDI).
