evolved packet gateway (BNG) (EPG)

An Evolved Packet Gateway (EPG or EPGW) is a node in an Evolved Packet Core( EPC).

Such an EPG gateway consists of the combination of a serving gateway( SGW) and a packet gateway( PGW). Both are key components of the Evolved Packet Core. The Serving Gateway interfaces with the eNodeB and is the local mobility anchor for handoffs between eNodeB nodes. The Evolved Packet Gateway connects the Internet or a switching node of packet-switched networks to the Evolved Packet Core.
