evolved UTRAN (LTE) (E-UTRAN)

Evolved UTRAN (E-UTRAN) is the System Architecture Evolution( SAE) access technology in LTE networks. The core of the SAE architecture is the Evolved Packet Core( EPC). In Evolved UTRAN (E-UTRAN), the EvolvedNode B(eNodeB), which is the radio base station, supports the physical layer and the media access method( MAC) of the user plane, which also runs the Packet Data Convergence Protocol ( PDCP), Radio Link Control( RLC) and Radio Resource Control( RRC).
