error detection and handling (SDI) (EDH)

Since the SDI interface has no checksum, cyclic block check(CRC), or other data integrity checks, an EDH data packet, Error Detection and Handling (EDH), can optionally be placed in the vertical interval of the video signal for integrity checking.

Error Detection and Handling (EDH) is a signal for error detection in digital video that is transmitted in Ancillary Data Space( ANC), the adequate blanking interval in digital video. Error Detection and Handling is based on cyclic block check (CRC) as an error detection mechanism. During the CRC check, the EDH data ischecked for one field at a time, and error handling takes effect if an error occurs. EDH is normally only used with the SD-SDI interface for SDTV.
