enhanced time division multiple access (E-TDMA)

Enhanced Time Division Multiple Access (E-TDMA) is an improved TDMA method that is characterized by the fact that it detects pauses in the voice transmission and uses them for the transmission. The pause detection is done with Digital Speech Interpolation (DSI). The E-TDMA process is used to increase the transmission capacity in the Advanced Mobile Phone System (AMPS).
