engineering data management (EDM)

Engineering Data Management(EDM) deals with data management during product development.

During product development, the resulting EDM data flows into the Product Data Management( PDM) data and is used for the computer-aided development and production programs, for CAD systems and parts lists, as well as for administrative tasks such as purchasing. They are documents, programs, text files and graphic files that are filed and stored in databases.

The EDM data contains information from the order management, development and construction. EDM data management accompanies the product during its entire life cycle.
