ending delimiter (MAC) (ED)

The Ending Delimiter (ED) field is a 1-bytedata field in the Ethernet frame, FDDI frame and Token Ring frame that, together with the Frame Status( FS), forms the End of Frame Sequence ( EFS).

ED field indicates whether it is the first or nth data packet of a data packet sequence.

In addition, the error detection bit is used to determine whether a data packet is erroneous. The error detection bit "E" is the Least Significant Bit( LSB). The Ending Delimiter (ED) and the Starting Delimiter( SD) contain the two symbols "J" and "K". For the Ending Delimiter the sequence is: JK1JK1(I)(E). The "I" stands for Intermediate Frame.
