end of medium (control character) (EM)

The End of Medium(EM) control character identifies the physical or logical of the storage medium. This can be the end of the paper web, the magnetic tape or the end of the recording possibility on a data carrier.

End of Medium has the hexadecimal value 0x19 or the decimal value 25 in the ASCII character set. End of Medium indicates the position at which the end of the recording capacity is reached. This position is indicated by a control signal.
