electricity over IP (EoIP)

Electricity over Internet Protocol (EoIP) is a technology in which the supply voltage for nodes or end devices is transmitted using the Internet Protocol( IP).

The simultaneous use of the network infrastructure for data and supply voltage significantly reduces the cabling effort.

The concept of Electricity over Internet Protocol (EoIP) is covered in RFC 3251 of April 2002 and is based on a network architecture called Mostly Pointless Lamp Switching (MPLampS). In this concept, the supply voltage is digitized according to Discrete Voltage Encoding (DVE) and transmitted in the data packets of the IP protocol to the node or end device, which is uniquely identifiable by its IP address.
