Dynamic bend lighting is a driver assistance system. It makes it easier for the driver to find his way on winding roads and provides better visibility. With dynamic bend lighting, objects
located on or directly next to the road can be detected earlier, which has an effect on road safety. In principle, dynamic bend lighting works with a headlamp that swivels horizontally and is controlled by various driving parameters. These include the steering angle, the driving speed and the yaw rate, which is expressed in the rotation of the vertical axis. All these parameters are evaluated and fed to the actuator
that swivels the headlight. Thus, the headlamp is swivelled more with a higher steering angle than with a less large steering angle. In contrast to dynamic bend lighting, static bend lighting involves the switching on and off of an additional headlamp.
