Principle of the thermal bubblejet

In the drop-on-demand process, an ink drop is only produced when it is needed for printing. The ink is contained in a thin capillary where it is protected from leaking by negative pressure. When an ink drop is requested, it is triggered according to various processes and sprayed onto the medium.

In the drop-on-demand process, a distinction is made between the process based on the piezo effect, which is used in piezo printers, and the bubble process, which works with a heating element, the bubblejet.
