drill through

A drill-through is a linking of one evaluation to another, usually with the aim of displaying more detailed or specialized data.

Drill through means "to drill through". This refers to the penetration of one evaluation into another. A drill through usually starts from a key figure in the first evaluation, but it can also start from a displayed property, a row of the evaluation, a graph or other.

The transition is made by means of parameters, which are transferred from the first to the second evaluation. Apart from the parameter transfer, the two evaluations are independent of each other. This makes it possible, for example, to branch from a main evaluation with a pie chart to a detailed list.

The term drill-through is related to the terms drill-down and drill-up.
