draft international standard (DIS)

A Draft International Standard (DIS) is a provisional standard or a standard recommendation of the International Organization for Standardization( ISO).

A standard recommendation is based on draft proposals ( DP) and is processed in Technical Committees ( TC), Sub-Committees( SC) and Working Groups ( WG). If a standard recommendation finally matures into a standard, it becomes a Final Draft International Standard (FDIS) and then an International Standard( IS).
