dispersive signal technology (touchsreen) (DST)

Dispersive Signal Technology(DST) is a method for position determination on touchscreens. The method is based on the vibration waves that are triggered by touching the screen.

When the screen is touched, vibration or bending waves are generated that propagate in all directions. Piezoelectric detectors are attached to the four corners of the screen to detect the vibration waves. The vibration waves triggered by contact travel radially across the screen and generate different voltages and curves in the detectors. A mathematical algorithm is used to calculate the touch position from the voltage curves of the four detector signals.
