The Digital Copy Protection System (DCPS) is a hardware copy protection for DVDs.

In the DCPS process, the DVD contains Copy Generation Management System ( CGMS) signals that determine the amount of video or audio information that can be copied by digital copying equipment. The CMGS data also indicates the frequency of copying. DCPS copy protection covers all DVD drives, equally DVD players and DVD decoders.
