digital asset management (DAM)

Digital assets or assets managed by the digitalasset management systems(DAM) are digital contents. That is, digital files ofgraphics, videos, audios, and of texts.

A DAM system manages, stores, categorizes and indexes digital content. In addition to high processing efficiency and reusability, corresponding DAM systems are characterized by media-neutral provision and complex search algorithms that support rapid retrieval of content that retains its value.

DAM systems check the digital content with regard to its integrity and detect copies of the content as duplicated content. Since corresponding systems have open interfaces, they can be used across platforms.

DAM files from the media sector are assigned to Media Asset Management( MAM), those from video technology to Video Asset Management (VAM).
